PRI017 | Fractal - Rocket Summer EP

West Coast Canadian Thor 'Fractal' Kell sometimes confuses himself with both an abstract mathematical concept and a Norse god of thunder. Suspiciously enough, both of these themes show up in his music, along with many others. The Rocket Summer EP is undoubtedly the most experimental and leftfield Primal release to date, something deeper, quirkier and downright genius in our opinion.

Flightmagicitem starts off the EP, a complex layered work, offbeat drum patterns, filmscore style synths and spun-in effects.... all leading to the most glorious glitchy crescendo. Rocket Summer carries on these themes but adds tech house structures and basslines. Strictly Ballroom is the most leftfield of the tracks, seemingly random bleepy synths big basslines. Soft Places rounds off the EP with a haunting, outerspace-styled,downtempo offering.

PRI016 | Filo and Peri Vs Serge Devant - Something Special

Brooklyn, New York is the birthplace for this powerful electro trancer. Russian born Serge Devant originally came up with the melodies and grooves before handing the reigns over to fellow New Yorkers Dom and Bo. They of course added there layers of sophisticated electro riffs and crunching underbeats. The result is a dance floor electro trance hybrid that merges the classic trance sound with todays electro vogue. Jerome from Release Records along with Boston based Emjae strips things down for the 1st remix... more raw dance floor grooves... we've played it out.. and it works. Hungarian Jay Lumen delivers one of his "chunky as hell" progressive work overs and Serge's original mix shows how it all began. A fine start to the summer for the Primal department.

PRI015 | Mike Brin - The Beauty EP

Russian Mike Brin has been making progressive house and DJ'ing since the tender age of 13. And those years of experience really show.. A 3 tracker of thoughtful, tuneful and uplifting progressive sounds. Hello Beauty the lead track could have no other name... it is stunningly beautiful, uplifting and intricate. Layers of wafting positiveness ooze from this record. Land of Passion is chunkier, more dancefloor and notches the tempo. Solid progressive house that the likes of Hernan Cattaneo and Omid 16B fill their sets with. One Small Country rounds things off by almost merging the sounds of the 2 previous tracks.... all the uplifting spirit and melodious lines are there... but this time with a solid dance floor underbeat. Watch this chaps name... he is going far.
